UEFA Nations League results

UEFA Nations League results are out and the first two matches are complete. England's 0-0 draw with Hungary means they are bottom of Group A3 after two losses and one draw. The match also saw Hungary top Group A3, above Germany and Italy. Hungary have won all three games, including both games against England, and their victory over Germany was the best of the tournament. Portugal have won their opening two games, but France are yet to score a single goal.

Giorgio Chiellini plans to retire from international football duty

Juventus veteran Giorgio Chiellini has announced that he is retiring from international football duty at the end of this year. The defender has won 116 caps for the national team and scored eight goals, resulting in an impressive overall record. Chiellini also helped Italy win the Euro 2020 tournament last summer, despite being a member of the squad that failed to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar. His contract at the Allianz Stadium is up in 2023, so he will not be able to play any more for the Italian national team. He may be transferred to the MLS in the future, but for now, his international career is over.

Cristiano Ronaldo rape lawsuit dismissed

A federal magistrate has recommended dismissal of the Cristiano Ronaldo rape lawsuit. In doing so, he noted that the plaintiff, Leslie Mark Stovall, had used "misappropriated documents" in prosecuting the case. "Repeated use of stolen documents to prosecute this case constitutes bad faith and barres her from refiling the complaint," wrote the magistrate. "The plaintiff failed to prove the alleged misconduct by presenting evidence that demonstrates that she is unable to show her own innocence."

There's also been a spate of allegations of money laundering, forgery, and blackmail involving some of the agents. In the wake of these scandals, FIFA is planning a licensing system for agents. Semi-offside technology

The development of semi-offside technology in international football could make decisions much quicker and more accurate, FIFA says. It has collaborated with universities and is currently undergoing tests. Once the technology is ready, it will be implemented as a standard worldwide. However, Collina defended the human element that is so important in the sport. While improved technology might make a game a little easier to watch, it will not eradicate the love for controversy.
